Canine Empowerment Coaching means education comes first!
The focus is always on empowerment of the human through education and awareness of their dog’s behaviors. I do this work because there are so many misunderstood dogs out there with behavioral issues who just need patience, persistence, leadership and a lot of love.
The methods I use with my clients are positive reinforcement based. We reinforce the behaviors we want and redirect the behaviors we don’t want. Alongside this training, I also provide education around canine behavior, body language and dog psychology. Basically I teach you how to understand the language of your dog! Most importantly I teach you and your dog how to relax in the eye of a trigger or during stressful events. This all plays a role in creating consistent boundaries and training to easily maintain a healthy and balanced relationship with your furry friends.

We worked with Victoria when we brought Holly home. She’s our first puppy and it’s been great! She checks in on how things are going between visits which is so nice and is always available over the phone for any questions that come up. I read several training books before bringing home our puppy but her in-person visits have been invaluable for putting what I read into practice. Her audience was two adults plus three kids (ages 3, 8 and 10) and everyone felt included and able to participate in training with Holly. Even our three-year old knew what to do when Holly was biting. We have really enjoyed working with Victoria and would highly recommend her services!
Victoria has been such a blessing for our family. Jax was our first pet and we had never owned a puppy before so it was a daunting task to train him. I really wanted a well behaved confident puppy. Victoria’s focus on positive reinforcement sold it for us. He listens and does so well with people and other pups. Leash training around the house has also been a game changer! But all the training aside, Victoria has be an amazing resource. Whenever I had a quick question or if I had a concern, she was there for us.
We cannot thank Victoria enough for the difference she made in our journey with Stella. Stella came into our lives somewhat accidentally and we took her on as a foster dog. We loved her immediately, but she had some fear based aggression issues with both people and other dogs that was not discovered until we brought her into our home. Victoria patiently worked with us in learning how to work with Stella to meet incremental goals. Her approach has a foundation of knowledge and experience, but is greatly complimented by her genuine care for the animals and people she interacts with. Stella is now playing with other dogs and becoming more comfortable when meeting new people. We feel that Stella came into our lives for a reason at a time when her fate was not looking so good. We needed each other and Victoria helped to bring us together. We would highly recommend Victoria to anyone.
I would highly recommend Victoria as a dog trainer. As soon as Victoria walks in you know that she knows what she is doing. She loves dogs and knows how to train them to be the pets we want them to be. She helped us train our puppy to walk since he didn’t want to leave the yard. She also gave us hope during the puppy phase that if we stick with it he would be a great pet to have around.
Victoria never has made me feel like Tanger’s behavior is my fault. I’ve worked with people in the past that made me feel guilty about the way my dog acts but Victoria never did that. She is always positive and helps me understand why I’m having the issues I’m having. Tanger’s reactivity is so much better since we started working with Victoria. We still have work today but Victoria let me know that it is possible. Also, with Victoria’s direction we were able to help curb his barking at things going on around the neighborhood, people walking by as well as visitors coming to the house.
Victoria is a positive person who cares about her clients. She is thoughtful, on time, consistent and kind. We will be using her again since Mandy (and we) need a tune up since Mandy is now 5 months old. We are thrilled with Mandy and her ability to fit in with our family and listen and respond well to our commands.
In one session, she quickly evaluated the situation with our three crazy pirate pitties and gave me practical homework to deal with some of our biggest challenges.
This is Bueller, our spoiled baby. He’s super sweet but takes everything at full speed. He’s used to coming out of the crate like he’s at the starting line for the Indy 500. Look at him now, waiting for my command!

Today Mika stopped to show me the distance she was comfortable with from a utility truck parked on the grass. We moved across the street and she remained calm and relaxed the entire time. The mouth stayed open, the body remained loose, the ears and tail where at rest. That was pretty cool to see. Normally she would have switched immediately into flight mode.
